PIPEDREAM · WORKFLOW MIGRATION

The Pipedream
is over.

Pipedream Workflows goes into maintenance mode now and shuts down on March 31, 2027. Your workflows have to move somewhere before then. We migrate them to n8n or straight to your own cloud, rebuild the code steps, run each replacement beside its original, and cut over before the deadline.

Pipedream is shutting down: where to migrate your workflows

The Shutdown

What the Pipedream shutdown means for your workflows.

Pipedream sat in a useful niche between Zapier and running your own infrastructure: real code steps, managed OAuth, and a run history you could replay. That combination is why it is hard to replace, and why leaving the move until February is the expensive option.

  1. SEP 30, 2026

    Shutdown announced

Pipedream moves its Workflows and String products into maintenance mode.

  2. NOW

    Maintenance mode

Your workflows still run, but the platform is no longer being built forward. Every month you wait is a month less to test the replacement.

  3. MAR 31, 2027

    Formal shutdown

Anything still on Pipedream Workflows stops. The trigger, the code steps, the run history, all of it.

Where To Migrate

Migrate Pipedream workflows to n8n, or direct to cloud.

Those are the two real options. The question is whether you want to own the workflow management layer or keep using one. Most teams end up with n8n for most workflows and code in the cloud for a few.

OPTION A · MOST WORKFLOWS

Migrate to n8n

n8n is the closest replacement for what made Pipedream worth paying for: a UI you can watch your workflows run in, mature run history and error handling, and code steps when a node is not enough. We run it cloud-hosted or self-hosted inside your own cloud.

  • Observability and management you can trust, not rebuild
  • Self-hosted in-network beside your SQL, storage and warehouse
  • MCP support, so Claude or your AI of choice can co-develop flows
OPTION B · FULL OWNERSHIP

Go direct to cloud

Rebuild the workflows as code on Google Cloud Run or AWS Lambda. You control every piece, and the run cost can be a fraction of a hosted platform. The trade is that you now own the scheduler, the secrets, the database, the logging and the dashboard someone checks when a run fails.

  • Lowest run cost at volume
  • No platform to be shut down out from under you again
  • Right for a few critical, high-volume flows, not usually for all of them

The longer argument for each option is in our post,Pipedream is shutting down: where to migrate your workflows.

How It Works

A white-glove Pipedream migration, highest-value workflows first.

We built hundreds of automations on Pipedream for ourselves and our customers, and we are moving our own off it now. Yours get the same process.

01

Inventory

We list every workflow in your Pipedream workspace with its triggers, connected apps, code steps and secrets, and rank them by what breaks if they stop.

02

Choose the destination

n8n, direct to cloud, or a mix. Some workflows turn out to be dead and get retired instead of moved.

03

Rebuild and parallel-run

The highest-value workflows go first. Each one runs beside its Pipedream original until the outputs match.

04

Cut over before March

We switch each workflow when its replacement is verified, hand you the documentation, and stay on for support.

Frequently Asked Questions

Pipedream migration FAQ

When does Pipedream shut down?

Pipedream announced on September 30, 2026 that its Workflows and String products are moving into maintenance mode, with a formal shutdown date of March 31, 2027. Workflows still on the platform after that date will stop running.

What is the best Pipedream alternative?

For most teams it is n8n, because it replaces the parts of Pipedream that are hard to build yourself: a visual run history, replay, error handling and credential management, plus code steps for custom logic. Going direct to Google Cloud Run or AWS Lambda costs less to run, but you have to build and maintain that management layer yourself.

Can my Pipedream code steps move to n8n?

Usually, yes. n8n's Code node runs JavaScript and Python, so most Node.js and Python steps port with modest changes. The work is in the parts around the code: Pipedream-specific helpers, how data passes between steps, and reconnecting the OAuth accounts each step relied on.

Should we self-host n8n or use n8n Cloud?

Self-hosting is what we recommend when your workflows touch other cloud resources such as SQL databases, storage buckets or a data warehouse, because n8n can then reach them securely inside your own network. n8n Cloud is simpler when there is nothing to connect in-network and no team to run the server.

How long does a Pipedream migration take?

It depends on how many workflows you have and how much custom code they carry. The free migration call gives you a real answer: we look at your workspace, sort what has to move from what can be retired, and tell you what fits before March 31, 2027.

Why use QREW for the migration?

Pipedream was a core tool for us. We built hundreds of automations on it for ourselves and our customers, and we are migrating our own workflows now. We know how Pipedream workflows are put together because we wrote them, and we know where the replacements behave differently.

Move before March, not in it.

Bring us your Pipedream workspace. In a free 30-minute call we will sort what has to move from what can be retired, recommend n8n or cloud for each, and tell you what fits before the shutdown.
